Adventures in a flying car - Talk Announced
ADVENTURES IN A FLYING CAR,
Tuesday 08th September 2009,
The Royal Geographical Society, London.
Members of the SkyCar Expedition team will give an illustrated lecture revealing the trials and jubilations of their extraordinary journey from London to Timbuktu in the World’s first road legal flying car.
The team will show previously unseen footage and talk about some of the inhospitable terrain and challenging weather conditions, as well as the threat of kidnap in volatile parts of Africa and the possibility of negotiating minefields in Mauritania.
The event will take place at the Royal Geographical Society’s magnificent headquarters overlooking Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens; with a drinks reception commencing at 6pm with members of the audience having the opportunity to meet and chat with representatives from the expedition before the ‘Adventures in a flying car’ talk begins at 7pm.
Event tickets are now available at £15 per person, with proceeds going towards the Alive & Kicking charity. The charity makes leather footballs, volleyballs and netballs in disadvantaged areas of Kenya, Zambia and South Africa, providing employment for over 150 stitchers. The balls all carry an HIV/AIDS, malaria or TB message, and are accompanied by preventive health materials so that teachers and coaches can use sport to talk to young people about risks to their health.
